Joseph M. Kreider, 90, formerly of South Annville Township, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, in Twin Oaks Nursing Home, Campbelltown. He was the husband of the late Sarah E. Forney Kreider, who died in 1980, and the late Mary K. Yocum Kreider, who died in 1994.
Born Dec. 13, 1913, in South Annville Township, he was a son of the late Edwin S. and Katie L. Light Kreider. He was a self-employed farmer in South Annville Township for 35 years, maintenance foreman at the Hershey Medical Center for five years and a school bus driver for Annville-Cleona School District. He was a member of Fontana Christian Fellowship Church and Annville-Cleona Kiwanis Club. He formerly served on the 4H board of directors, the Annville-Cleona School Board for 18 years, and the chapel board of Fontana Union Sunday school. One of the original founders and investors in the Lebanon Valley Expo, he served on its board from 1969 to 1989.
Surviving are sons Ronald J. Kreider of Palmyra and Robert E. Kreider of Fontana; daughters Audrey, wife of William Scipioni of Palmyra, and Linda, wife of Roger Lintz of Akron; stepson Bruce Funk of York; stepdaughter Judy Funk of Harrisburg; brothers Ira and Elmer Kreider, both of Annville; sister Marie, wife of Harold Heagy of Annville; 11 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three step-greatgrandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by brothers Herman, Lester and Henry Kreider and sisters Elizabeth O'Neal and Leah Gish.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Fontana Christian Fellowship Church, Route 322, Fontana, preceded by a calling time at 9. Interment will be in Gingrich Mennonite Cemetery, North Cornwall Township. Kreamer Funeral Home, Annville, is handling arraignments.
