Dr. Jesse K. Stoner. 49, of 3230 Falling Spring Road, died Monday, Nov. 28, 1994, in Menno Haven Nursing Home after an illness of 11 months.

Born July 27, 1945, in Gettysburg, he was a son of the late Joseph A. and Grace E. Kreider Stoner.

A self-employed veterinarian, he practiced veterinary medicine 10 years in the New Oxford area and 10 years in the Chambersburg area.

A 1963 graduate of Bermudian Springs High School, he earned a bachelor's degree in biology in 1970 from Messiah College, Grantham. In 1974, he graduated from University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, Philadelphia.

From 1965 to 1967, he was a volunteer with the Brethren in Christ Mission in Zambia, Africa.

He was a member of New Guilford Brethren in Christ Church, where he served on the church board, was a Sunday school teacher and a deacon for 10 years.

Among his other memberships are the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Bovine Practitioners, National Federation of Independent Businesses and Pennsylvania Farmers Association.

Surviving are his wife, Joanne M. Knepper Stoner, whom he married Aug. 31, 1968; a daughter, Jodi L. (Mrs. Michael A.) Smith of Mechanicsburg; a sister, Mary Ann (Mrs. Nevin) Engle of Grantham; and seven brothers, Ronald K. of Hanover, Sam K. of East Berlin, John K. of Akron, Ohio, Bob K. of Arvada, Colo., Marlin K. of New Oxford, Ben K. of Farmington, N.M., and Gerald K. of Gardners.

He was preceded in death by a daughter and a brother. Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in New Guilford Brethren in Christ Church, 1575 Mont Alto Road. The Rev Dr. Robert D. Verno will officiate. Burial will be in New Guilford Brethren in Christ Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home Inc., 333 Falling Spring Road, and one hour before the service Thursday in the church.
