Ray L. Kreider

PALMYRA -- Ray Louis Kreider, 46, of Baltimore, died Thursday in Lutherville, Md.

A native of Palmyra, he was a 1955 graduate of Hershey High School where he was a member of the football team. In his senior year, he was named outstanding athlete of the Capital Area Conference.

Kreider received his bachelor's degree in health and physical education from West Chester State College and was a member of the school's football and track teams. In 1972 , he received his master's degree in education from Loyola College in Baltimore.

A physical education teacher in the Baltimore area since 1960, he taught at Lansdown High School in Baltimore County where he was coach of the football and lacrosse teams. He was member of the Loch Raven United Methodist Church and served as head usher. He was also a member of the Palmyra Brethren in Christ Church.

Surviving are his wife, Deborah E.; a son, Donald; a daughter, Danielle; his mother, Esther Kreider of Mechanicsburg; two brothers, H. Ellis of Campbelltown and Harold of Englewood, Ohio; two sisters, Ruth Landis of Grantham and Marion Hock of Carlisle.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Palmyra Brethren in Christ Church. Burial will be in United Christian Cemetery, Campbelltown.

A memorial scholarship fund has been established in his name at the Lansdown High School.

Arrangements are being handled by the Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Towson, Md.
