WORCESTER, Mass. -- Dr. Marlin B. Kreider 58, of 830 Pleasant St., died Thursday in Worcester City Hospital after suffering a heart attack while jogging.
A native of Campbelltown, Pa., he was a 1952 graduate of the University of Maryland with a doctorate in physiology. He was a professor of physiology and science at Worcester State Teachers College for the past three years. For 17 years he had worked in research for the Army Environmental Corps at Natick, Mass. He taught at Eastern Nazarene College, Quincy, Mass., for many years. He wrote many scientific papers and articles on his speciality, hypothermia.
An Army veteran of World War II, he was a deacon at Old Historic Park Street Church in Boston and was a member of American Scientific Association and Appalachian Mountain Club of Massachusetts.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elin Saunders Kreider; his mother, Mrs. Esther Books Kreider of Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg, Pa.; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Landis of Grantham, Pa., and Mrs. Marian Hock of Carlisle, Pa.; and three brothers, H. Ellis of Campbelltown, Harold N. of Englewood, Ohio, and Ray L. of Lutherville, Md.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Park Street Church, Boston.
Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Brethren in Christ Church in Palmyra, Pa., with the Rev. Ethan M. Gramm officiating. Burial will be in the United Christian Cemetery, Campbelltown
Friends may call at the Brethren in Christ Church Wednesday from 2 p.m. until time of services.
Arrangements are being handled by the funeral home at Railroad and Pine streets, Palmyra.
