Robert Eby Kreider Obituary

PALMYRA Robert Eby Kreider, 87, died Saturday, April 13, 2013, in Lebanon Valley Brethern Home. He was the husband of the late Lois Moyer Kreider, and the son of the late Franklin W. and Effie D. Kreider.

Robert graduated in 1943 from Lebanon High School. He was a veteran, having served with the 1st Marine Division in the Pacific during WWll, where he was awarded the Silver Star and two Purple Hearts. These were awarded for action on the Ryukyu Island, Okinawa. Bob is a quiet hero. He then became a dairy farmer for 45 years on a beautiful historical farm on 322 at Quentin and was a lifetime member of the FFA before he retired in 1991. He was a member of Tabor United Church of Christ, where he served on the council and in the choir. He helped in many ways to better the church. He welcomed day to day adventures, helping others, enjoying family, friends, and life in general.

He is survived by a daughter, Janet Wentsler and husband, Guy of Lebanon; and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Kanalos and husband, Casey of Lebanon. Bob was blessed with five grandsons, Brad Kreider and wife, Elizabeth of Bethel, Alan Kreider and wife, Cynthia of Lebanon, Dean Kreider and wife, Amber of Lebanon, Daniel Wentsler and fiancee, Kym Lebo of Lebanon, and Ryan Wentsler of Lebanon; six beautiful great-grandchildren, Macy, Madison, Kyle, Caleb, Meghan, and Blake - all "Kreiders"; sister, Christine Schott of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Kreider, and brother, Carl Kreider.

Viewings will be held Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday 9 to 10 a.m. with the service to begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon. Interment will be in Quentin Cemetery. Donations may be made to Tabor U.C.C., Lebanon. www.rohlandfh.com
