Miriam Susan Kreider Smith, 91, of 23 Oakwood Drive, Palmyra, died Tuesday June 14, 2011 in the Hershey Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Lester Miller Smith who died in 1993.
Born in South Annville Twp. on February 18, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Jonas and Susan Kettering Kreider. She was a farmer's wife with her husband operating the family dairy farm in North Cornwall Twp.
Miriam was a member of Middle Creek Church of the Brethren, Lititz and the Farm Women Group #11.
Surviving are three sons, Simon K. Smith of Palmyra, Lester M. Smith, Jr. of Tum Tum, Washington, Earl R. husband of Marilyn Smith of Lebanon; two daughters, Susan Jane Smith of Portland, Oregon, Joyce M. wife of Earl Morris of Bellmawr, NJ; 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Jane Smith of Lebanon. She was preceded in death by a son, Marlin J. Smith, and a daughter, Rose K. Smith; five brothers, Ralph, Isaac, Simon, Caleb, and Henry Kreider; and three sisters, Elizabeth Kreider, Mary Kreider, and Ruth Fahnestock.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM from the DiMatteo Worship Center at the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, 1200 Grubb Road, Palmyra. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family prior to the memorial service in South Annville Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Friday evening from 6-9 PM at the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main Street, Annville.
