Harold A. Manifold, 88, died July 26, 2012, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Mary Kathryn (Kreider) Manifold, who died in 1995. Mr. Manifold was born February 27, 1924, in Airville. He was the son of the late Margaret (Collins) and Robert Manifold.
He graduated from Lower Chanceford High School in 1940 and attended Elizabethtown College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947 and was stationed in Rome, Italy, during WWII. He was an insurance agent for 40 years in both Ephrata and York. He was the owner of Kingston Insurance and Investments and Manifold Products Company. Mr. Manifold also laid out a real estate development known as "Manifold Manor". Since 1965, Mr. Manifold was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and trustee.
Mr. Manifold is survived by three children, Dave Manifold and his wife, Mary Jo of Red Lion, Kay Lynne Koehler and her husband, Steve of York, and Peggy McFarland and her husband, Bob of Red Lion. In addition, Mr. Manifold is survived by five grandchildren, Zachary Manifold of Red Lion, Brenden McFarland and wife, Jackie of Spring Grove, Jeremiah Manifold and wife, Celeste of Norfolk, Va., Andrew Koehler of York, and Christopher Koehler of York; and three great-grandchildren, Brayden McFarland, Jayden Manifold, and Sania Manifold.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 4, at 11 a.m. at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 311 Haines Road, York, with his pastor, The Rev. Dr. Greg Seckman, officiating. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Deacons' Fund of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 311 Haines Road, York, PA 17402. Etzweiler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York, is in charge of the arrangements.
