Lester E. Hoffmaster

Lester E. Hoffmaster, 91, died August 18, 2005 in Dock Terrace, Towamencin Twp. He was the husband of Verna M. (Heisey) Hoffmaster, and they had observed their 68th wedding anniversary in January. The couple lived in Norristown over 30 years before moving to the Dock Woods Community in 1992, and were formerly of Lebanon and Lancaster County.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Aaron O. and Fannie L. (Herr) Hoffmaster and graduated from Manor Twp. High School in 1932. He earned his BA degree from Franklin and Marshall College in 1937 and a Masters degree in Education from Temple University.

Mr. Hoffmaster had a 37 year teaching and coaching career. He taught at high schools in Warwick Twp., Heidelberg Twp., Cocalico Union, Norristown and retired from the Upper Dublin School District in 1979.

Prior to recruitment, he served as the newsletter editor for the Penna. Science Teacher's Assoc., he was past president of the Montgomery County Science Teacher's Assoc., and had been a member of the Montgomery Retired Teacher's Assoc. and the Penna. Retired Teacher's Assoc.

He was a member of the Ambler Church of the Brethren and a former member of the Ephrata and Midway Chuch of the Brethren.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are six children, Connie Place and her husband, David, of Fairview Village, David B. Hoffmaster and his wife, Mary (Wagner) of Phoenixville, Linda S. Miller and her husband, Mervyl of Harrisonburg, VA, James L. Hoffmaster and his wife, Karen (Wilson) of Point Pleasant, NJ, Nancy J. Hamill and here husband, William, Jr. of Warrington and Janet K. Ikoniak and here husband, Joseph, of Doylestown. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Fay Hoffmaster; a brother, Richard, and two sisters, Dorothy Miller and Emma Snyder.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service September 2, 2005 at 10:30 AM in the Dock Woods Community Chapel, 275 Dock Drive, Lansdale, PA 19446. The family will greet friends following the service.
