Jay W. Smith, 75, of Manheim, went to be with the Lord Sunday March 18, 2007 at Pleasant View Retirement Community.
Born in Rapho Twp. Lancaster Co. he was the son of the late Benjamin and Minnie (Hoffer) Smith. He was the husband of Geraldine (Witman) Smith, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.
Jay retired as the superintendent of maintenance from Alcoa of Lancaster in 1991 after 35 years of employment. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim, and enjoyed camping and boating at the Susquehanna River.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Tim Smith of Manheim; five brothers, Hoffer, Robert, and Jim Smith, all of Elizabethtown, Eugene of Conestoga and Wayne of Centerville; five sisters, Ruth Forry of Mount Joy, Darlene Lamberson of Centerville, Lorraine Heisey of Maytown, Helen Rhoads of Hume, VA, Shirley Morrison of Beavertown; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Ben, and two infant sisters.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jays memorial service from the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Thursday March 22, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Richard W. Connor officiating. A period of visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
