Norman D. Sauder, 84, of 1769 Newport Road, Manheim died peacefully and went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Hospice of Lancaster County Mount Joy Facility. Born in Manor Township, he was the son of the late Willis G. and Annie Dombach Sauder. From 1958 until his retirement in 1989 Norman was the owner and operator of Norman D. Sauder Concrete Manheim; he also farmed throughout his life on the family farm located in Penn Township. He was the loving husband of Dorothy Hoffer Sauder and they would have observed their 62nd wedding anniversary today. He was a member of the White Oak Church Of The Brethren, Manheim, where he served on the Gibble Cemetery Board as well as volunteering for the Brethren Disaster Relief Auctions. After his retirement and until his recent illness, Norm had a passion for woodworking; he enjoyed working on many projects, especially refinishing and repairing old Croquet Sets that numbered to at least sixty.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Melvin W. husband of Jeri Schaeffer Sauder and Timothy N. husband of Kathy Gantz Sauder, all of Manheim, a daughter, Betty S. wife of Larry E. Byler of Ephrata, five grandchildren: Angela Sauder Lefever, Wendy Sauder Pfoutz, Natalie Byler, Cortney Sauder Milbourne, Colton Sauder, seven great grandchildren, and a brother, Lewis D. husband of Dorothy Sauder of Manheim. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel D. Zimmerman, and a brother, B. Russell Sauder.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service from the White Oak Church Of The Brethren, 1211 North Penryn Road, Manheim on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 10:30 AM. Interment is in Graybills Brethren Cemetery, Elm. There will be a public viewing at the church on Tuesday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM with additional viewing on Wednesday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Please omit flowers.
