Lottie E. Hoffer, 71, of the Mennonite Home, formerly of 1729 Newport Road, Penryn, died Wednesday afternoon at Lancaster General Hospital after a long illness. She had been under a doctor's care and had been at the home for a little more than a year. She was the wife of the late Abel M. Hoffer, who died in 1974.

A homemaker, she was a member of Jerusalem United Church of Christ in Penryn. She was a member of a widows' support group and attended bible study at the church. She was known for her craft work, especially needlepoint and sewing. Born in Sacramento, she was the daughter of the late Faries and Beulah Troutman Erdman.

Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy A., wife of J. Reah Harnish, Lancaster, and Linda K., wife of Dale G. Johnson, Lititz; four grandchildren; a brother, Roy Erdman of East Petersburg; and four sisters: Helen, wife of Charles McMinn, Manheim; Sula, wife of Lester Harner, Pottstown; Vesta Hood, San Diego; and Annabelle, wife of Raymond Magaro, Harrisburg.
