Mrs. Ellen Early Kreider, nee Bomgardner, widow of John S. Kreider, died at 1:15 o'clock this morning at her home, 115 South Fifth Street, following a four days illness of complications aggravated by a heart condition, at the age of 93 years. Mrs. Kreider's husband held the office of county commissioner of Lebanon County many years ago.
Mrs. Kreider was of kindly disposition and was known by hundreds of Lebanonians for her constant interest in civic affairs, church and Sunday School activities, and the welfare of young people. She was a member of the Salem Evangelical Unted Brethren Church where she was a regular attendant until the past year when her visits became less frequent.
Mrs. Kreider was a lifelong resident of Lebanon County, and she lived in this vicinity practically all her life. Last summer she suffered a fractured collarbone in a fall at her home, which necessitated her removal to the Good Samaritan Hospital where she was a patient about three weeks. Thereafter she returned home and resumed her housework and daily chores as usual, almost up to the time of her fatal illness.
Mrs. Kreider was twice married. Her first husband, who preceded her in death by many years, was Dr. John Earley, of Grantville, who practiced his profession at Bellegrove where the couple resided for a long time.
She is survived by a niece, Mrs. Grace E. Kase, Lebanon, and a number of other nieces and nephews; two step-sons, Ralph H. Kreider, Lebanon, and Harry Kreider, New York; and a grandson, Richard L. Williams Jr., of Chicago.
