C. Alvin Light

C. Alvin Light, 99, of 316 Messiah Circle, Mechanicsburg, died Friday, November 4, 2005 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.

He was born February 21, 1906, in Syner, PA, son of the late Menno Light and Elizabeth Kreider.

He was a retired welder, founder and former owner of Light's Welding, Palmyra. He was a member of Messiah Village Brethren in Christ, Mechanicsburg. He enjoyed gardening and playing the organ.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Hoffman Light, Mechanicsburg; daughters, Eleanor L., wife of Jay R. Hess, Greencastle, Jean E. McFarlane, St. Petersburg, Fla., Jane E., wife of Carl Raser, Claremont, Calif.; son, Earl W., husband of Kathryn E. Light, Palmyra; brother, Walter R. Light, Lewisburg; 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, verna Doutrich Light and his second wife, Sarah Nye Light.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at Palmyra Brethren in Christ, 626 W. Cherry St., Palmyra, with viewing from 10 AM until service time. Rev. C. Ronald Burgard will officiate. Burial in Gravel Hill Cemetery, N. Londonderry Twp.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Palmyra Brethren in Christ Chruch, 616 W. Main Street, P.O. Box 422, Palmyra, PA, 17078.
