A. Menno light, 92, Noted Palmyra Resident, Succumbs

Death came during sleep early Sunday morning to A. Menno Light, one of Palmyra's oldest residents. He was 92 and would have celebrated his 93rd birthday June 29.

Light, who is survived by 150 direct descendants, lived on South Locust St. He was a native of the county.

Until about six weeks ago, the elderly resident was active and in good health. His health then began failing.

He was especially well-known in Palmyra because of his frequent walk's about the community and his keen interest in current events. He also took special delight in visiting his many relatives in the area.

Light was a farmer until he turned 52. At that age, he retired from farming and took employment with W. L. Kreider shoe factory in Palmyra. He worked there 25 years as a shipping clerk.

Light worshipped in the United Christian Church, Palmyra. His parents were the late Felix and Kate Witmoyer Light. His wife, the former Elizabeth Kreider, preceded him in death 23 years ago.

Surviving are six daughters: Mrs. John Herr, Annville Route 2; Mrs. Sallie Walborn and Mrs. Ammon Funck, both of Palmyra; Mrs. Elmer Books, Cleona; Mrs. Penrose Hostetter and Mrs. Albert Hostetter, both of Annville Route; and four sons; K. Byron, C. Alvin, and Walter R., all of Palmyra, and Harry K., of Annville Route 1.

Also surviving are 46 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren and a brother, Harry W. Light, of Lebanon.
