Elias Kreider, a retired blacksmith, and one of the oldest residents in the southern section of Lebanon County, died on Monday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at his residence at Iona, South Lebanon township. Senile debility is ascribed as the cause of his death. He was ill since September 1. He was aged 89 years.
He is survived by four daughters and five sons as follows: Misses Lizzie, Leah and Mary, all residing at home; Mrs. Rebecca Miller, of Avon, and Elias, at home; Henry, of Five Points; Moses, Aaron and Jacob, all of Lebanon. Mrs. Kreider died about two years ago.
The deceased was widely known and was highly respected. He was an excellent mechanic, and for many years shod the horses for his neighbors for miles around.
