John G. Kreider, widely known former Annville merchant and foreman in the Kreider shoe factory, Annville, died yesterday at his home, 108 S. White Oak St., Annville.
Kreider, who was 84 years old, had been retired for about the last 10 years. His last job was at the shoe factory. Prior to that he operated a fish and oyster business for many years.
He also operated the now defunct Kreider Mill on S. White Oak St., taking over 60 years ago after the retirement of his father. During the short time he resided outside of Annville, he was a rail inspector at the Sparrows Point plant of the Bethlehem Steel Company, near Baltimore.
During the silent movie days, he was the pianist in the Annville Theatre. He also was an accomplished player of the mouth organ He was born in Annville and lived there most of his life. His parents were the late David and Lizzie (Graybill) Kreider.
Kreider was a member of St Paul's Roman Catholic Church, the Moose of Lebanon, the Knights of Pythias, Quittapahilla Lodge of the Odd Fellows and the Red Men. He also was a charter member oi the Union Hose Company of Annville.
Survivors include his wife, the former Margaret Bleuel; one daughter, Elizabeth, wife of Robert C. Lincoln, Farmingdale, N.Y.; one son, Theodore J., Annville; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs Lillian Shroyer, of Annville; and two brothers, David G. Kreider of Annville, and J. Lehn Kreider, of Reading.
